Everyday Math
I teach math to all 5th grade students, along with Mrs. House! Below you will learn a little bit about how I will use Everyday Math in my classroom.
Everyday Math Workshop
We will usually start the day off with either a Math Message or Mental Math Reflexes. This gives the students a few minutes to focus on the topic of the day. I will then briefly introduce the concept I will be teaching that day and tell students what they will be doing in Everyday Math Workshop stations.
Teacher Station
Students will work with me on pages in their Everyday Math Journal. Students get individualized attention at this station.
Seatwork Station
Students will then begin to work in small groups on pages in their Everyday Math Journal. Students will work together to complete Everyday Math Journal pages. If they don't understand a concept we will cover it again in the Teacher Station.
Game Station
In this station students will play games in small group or with partners. Somedays we will play the Everyday Math Games and on other days we will play games on the computers or iPads.
Homework
Sometimes I will send home a Skills Link or other form of homework with your child. These are important for your child to complete at home because they reinforce skills taught in that days lesson. If you ever have any questions about homework please feel free to contact me at home or school.
